Letters from Iwo Jima

Our friend Rebecca has assembled a "movie club" of co-workers of hers from NASA and Ivy and me and we all saw Clint Eastwood's "Letters from Iwo Jima" last week.  I recommend it:

- conveys Japanese culture very well; shows their sense of humor, sense of honor and also how they were deceived by WWII propaganda to live and die for their "immortal emperor" and the glory of their totalitarian state.

- beautifully photographed and it showed how terrible war is without being gratuitously over the top with nasty violence.
